The Harbor Dash will be an exciting new opportunity for runners to explore Peddocks Island, one of the most interesting and historic islands in the Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area. It was a film location for the movie “Shutter Island”.
Our course will travel among the many old buildings and ruins of Fort Andrews before traveling along a coastal path with picturesque views of Boston, Hull and Hingham Bay. The island has recently undergone a four year restoration and our event will be one of the first to utilize it since the project’s completion. The island has extensive amenities including a visitors center and plentiful restrooms.
Harbor Dash will benefit The Friends of Hingham Harbor and is being organized with support from Mass DCR, The National Park Service and the Boston Harbor Islands Alliance. Ferries will depart from the nearby Hingham Shipyard Complex. A post race celebration will be held on the patio at the Hingham Shipyard Marina, just a few steps from the dock.
