Frozen Pilgrim Has Been Cancelled

Well we were all set to go for Saturday. We’ve run the course a few times (along with many other people that just want/need to get outside). All appeared to be moving forward as planned, unfortunately…….. the town does not feel that it is safe to hold any road races at this time. With high snowbanks, icy corners and low visibility, they feel it is necessary to stay on the cautious side of this and are not able to provide us with the final sign off on paperwork to hold the race on Saturday morning.

What are we doing about registration fees:

All pre-registered runners can choose a coupon for $10 off one of the following races:

· Norwell St Patrick’s 4 Miler on March 14th

· Manomartian 3.4 Miler on May 9th

· Mill Pond 5K on June 20th

· Kayla’s Beat 5K on October 3rd

· Trick or Trot 5K on October 31st

· Myles Standish Marathon or Relay on November 15th

· Run Your Turkey Off 5K on November 28th

· Winter Lights on December 4th

· Frozen Pilgrim 2016

Shirt and goodie bag pickup will still be held on Friday from 4pm – 6pm at Marathon Sports in Plymouth. Marathon Sports will be offering 20% your store purchases (minus electronics).

REMINDER: If you registered after February 7th you missed the shirt deadline so we may not have one for you. If you are not sure when you registered, please email us and we will let you know BEFORE you come to the store and find out you didn’t register in time to receive one.

Since we can’t race, we have decided to hold an informal group run on the Canal Service Road on Saturday morning at 9:00 am from Sagamore Recreation Area (From the North: Route 3 South to Exit 1A, left off exit, right at 1st light onto Canal Road in between Dunkin Donuts and Friendly’s, follow to Sagamore Recreation Area Parking on your right. From the South: Route 6 to Exit 1A, right off exit, right onto Canal Road to Sagamore Recreation Area). This will be an untimed group run of approximately 6.2 miles, not an official road race. You will be able to pick up your shirts and goodie bags on site beginning at 8:30 am. There will be no mile markers or water stops on the course so please be sure to bring anything with you to carry if you want something while you are out there. We will provide drinks and snacks for when you are done as well as some awards.

We are so disappointed that this winter has created so many running challenges for us. We want to be out there on the roads too but at the same time don’t want to risk safety in exchange for holding the event. Our charity, The Kurt Giessler Foundation for Youth Achievement, will still be receiving their donation. Thank you so much for your understanding.
